Ultimate Coagulation (Clotting) Blood Test

ULTIMATE COAGULATION (CLOTTING) BLOOD TEST

Coagulation tests, also known as clotting tests, are conducted to assess the body's ability to form blood clots effectively.

They are commonly used to diagnose bleeding disorders, monitor the effectiveness of anticoagulant medications, or evaluate liver and kidney function.

If you have a family history of clotting disorders, experience excessive bleeding or bruising, or are undergoing certain medical treatments, such as surgery or long-term medication use, a coagulation blood test may be useful.

Finally, if you are experiencing unexplained symptoms like frequent nosebleeds or heavy menstrual bleeding, your GP may find this test useful in determining the underlying cause.

7 BIOMARKERS

  1. COAGULATION AND CLOTTING

    - APTT
    - APTT Ratio
    - Fibrinogen
    - INR
    - Prothrombin Ratio
    - Prothrombin Time
    - D-Dimer

  2. CLINICAL INFORMATION REQUIRED

Please make sure that you supply us with additional information for this test, such as any medication you are on, e.g. blood thinners such as Warfarin or any other clinically relevant information. This will ensure there are no delays with results reporting.

The D-Dimer is a dynamic test and can change according to the clinical situation. In the presence of bleeding (including menstruation), clotting (DVT/PE), infection, inflammation, malignancy, the D-Dimer level can rise rapidly and then settle back towards normal within days. The D-Dimer level can change day to day.
